KLM Royal Dutch Airline is the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands. It is founded in 1919, which is situated in Amstelveen. The airline operates from a hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS).
Its subsidiaries include KLM Cityhopper (WA) and Transavia (HV). And it operates its flight to about 130 destinations in 69 countries across Europe, Asia, North America, Africa and South America.
It is also the member of the SkyTeam airline alliance and also has codeshare agreements with 29 other airlines. It includes both Boeing and Airbus planes and each of which is configured with a Business Class, Economy Comfort Class, and Economy Class.
KLM Baggage Allowance:
The Passenger who is flying with KLM can carry 1 carry-on bag, 1 personal item and 1 checked baggage with them. But it will depend upon your cabin class on the board. KLM Baggage limit: Oversized hand luggage that does not meet with requirements may still need to pay for extra at the gate just because of limited space in overhead bins in the cabin.

Dimensions of your baggage include handles and wheels. If you want to purchase any extra baggage online, then it is possible until 24 hours before departure. Here you will find the limitation of your baggage according to your cabin class.

Children’s Baggage:
Children and babies traveling in their own booked seat may bring the same amount of hand baggage and check-in baggage as an adult. For a child younger than 2 years who will be traveling on your lap, you may bring:

Economy class passengers can carry 2 pieces of check-in baggage with them when traveling to the cities like Carribean, South America, Indian Ocean, Africa, and French Polynesia.
KLM Excess Overweight, & Oversize Baggage:
You will need to pay for additional fees if you have more bags than the permitted allowance or your bags exceed the weight, size or linear restrictions. But you may carry an extra piece of baggage at a low standard fee by paying when booking online.
Special Baggage:
The aircraft has limited space on board and just because of that you need to reserve the transportation within 48 hours before departure.
Delayed Baggage:
If your baggage is lost on arrival, then visit the Baggage Service Office at the airport. They will register your complaint and give you a personal reference number. Through this, you can check the status of your delayed baggage.
- KLM baggage lost: If your baggage is not found within 3 days, then you can fill out a Baggage Claim Form online by using the World Tracer tool. By providing the details like your last name and file reference number, they will refine your search.
- If they are not able to trace baggage after 21 days, then your form will be sent to KLM Customer Care.
Once your baggage has been found, then they contact you to arrange delivery.
Damaged baggage:
Normal use of your baggage may result in scratches, marks and small dents on your baggage. For this, airline will not responsible.
- But if you find other kinds of damage, then report this as soon as you arrive at the airport.
- Or you can also send a written claim to Customer Care within 7 days after arrival.
Sports Equipment & Other Items:
You can also carry the sports equipment and other items instead of a suitcase, or instead of an extra suitcase. For this, you do not need to reserve transportation in advance.
The following items each can count as 1 suitcase if max. 23 kg (50 lbs):

Other Services:
For Infants:
Those children are up to 2 years old are not required to have their own seat. They must have to travel with an infant on their lap.
- 1 lap child is allowed per adult.
- If one adult is traveling with more than one infant under 2 years of age, then they must need to buy an extra seat for each additional infant.
- You can also purchase a seat for your infant as long as you have the proper child restraint device.
Note:
Children under 5 years of age are not allowed to travel alone. They must have to travel with an adult who is at least 15 years old (or 18 if traveling to/from the U.S., Canada or Mexico).
For Unaccompanied Minors
Those young children who are traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered as Unaccompanied Minors.
- The airline will assist such children from their point of departure to their final destination.
- KLM minimum age to fly alone: The children who are the age of 5-14 can travel without an adult.
- Those children age is lies between 15-17 years are not required to travel as unaccompanied minors and services are optional for this group.
KLM pet policy:
Pets in the cabin:
A small cat or dog can be taken into the Economy Class cabin and in Business Class on most KLM flights within Europe:
- Pet travel bag with max. Size of 46 x 28 x 24 cm.
- Total weight of pet + travel bag or kennel may be max. Of 8 kg (18 lbs).
Pets as check-in baggage:
Your cat or dog can travel as check-in baggage in a ventilated part of the aircraft.
- Total weight of your pet and kennel combined may be max. 75 kg (165 lbs).
- 2 adult animals of comparable size that is compatible, up to 14 kg (30 lbs) each.
- Or 3 animals up to 6 months old from the same litter, up to 14 kg (30 lbs) each.
Kennel Requirements:
- The kennel must have a fiberglass or rigid plastic shell. Wooden, metal bar or welded wire mesh kennels are not allowed.
- The door must have a centralized locking system.
- The door hinge and locking pins must engage the container by at least 1.6cm (5/8 in.).
- Make sure the two parts of the kennel are joined through bolts. Any other locking system is strictly forbidden.
- The kennel must be large enough so that pet can stand up without touching the top and to be able to turn around easily.
- The kennel must have a blanket, newspaper, or other material on the floor. Please note that straw is not allowed.

Fly from Amsterdam to Boston return. I am very satisfied with their service. All the flights have been in time. Their customer service is very good, they reply almost immediately through their Facebook account if you have any questions. Especially for long distance trips I recommend spending a bit more and being sure that you will arrive at your destination without any surprises.

Fly from Madrid to Amsterdam. It has quick boarding at Madrid Airport. Very clean Boeing 737 aircraft. Nice comfortable seat for an economy class cabin. Professional cabin crew looked fresh and groomed. Flight is on-time. The Captain gave a Dutch, English and Spanish message.

Fly from Amsterdam to Mumbai. My review is about outstanding customer support I received in Amsterdam airport from KLM. Having missed a flight and exhausted all opportunities with my unhelpful travel agent. My original KLM operated flight to Mumbai was changed in minutes by most helpful and cheerful transit desk ladies. There was a nominal transfer charge compared to a €1000 new flight charge from my travel agent. These ladies really saved my day. Thank you, KLM and your wonderful team.
