Lufthansa has become the latest airline to switch the earning mechanism for its frequent flyer programme from a distance on a revenue basis.

As per the statement of the airline, its Miles & More loyalty programme would start from mid-March. It will change the way award miles are accrued by basing it on the price of flights.

Presently, the frequent flyer miles are based on stuff like the booking class and length of the route.

You can enjoy this feature in all Lufthansa Group carriers such as Austrian, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, etc.

As per the new reward system, there will be an automatic allocation of award miles based on the sales volume that is generated by the purchase of the ticket.

Passengers must be aware of the fact that the awarding status miles will still depend upon the length of the route. And the privileges linked to frequent flyer status will remain in place.

The airline also mentioned that “This change will also not have a fundamental impact on the number of award miles that are distributed by the airlines overall, or on the availability of flight rewards.”

Talking about its starting, these changes will take place from 12th of March, 2018.
