Again, the Munich Airport has got the title of “Europe’s Best Airport” in 2018. By the respected London-based aviation research institute Skytrax, the Bavarian airport was selected for the honor in the annual World Airport Awards.
On the occasion of the international airport fair “Passenger Terminal EXPO 2018” in Stockholm, the airport got this name. The announcement was made in a special ceremony.
The World Airport Awards are based on a global survey of passengers. At least 14 million of passengers, from around the world helped Skytrax produce ratings for 550 airports.
- Munich took the number 1st position among airports handling 40–50 million passengers per year in the global rankings.
- And got the 6th position among all international airports.
- This year the Terminal 2 of Munich Airport also achieved an outstanding result by getting the 2nd position in the World’s Best Terminal category.
In addition, Hilton Munich Airport scored excellent ratings among airport hotels. It ranked 1st position in Europe and 3rd worldwide.
For the better performance, the airport also placed in the global top 10 which is based on the “airport dining experience”, “baggage delivery”, “transit service”, and “entertainment”.
Moreover, Munich has boasted “Five-star Airport” status – as the only European airport to earn that honor since 2015. The five-star designation is awarded through audits conducted by aviation experts with Skytrax.
The President and CEO of Munich Airport, Dr. Michael Kerkloh said, “I’m delighted that our passengers hold Munich Airport in such high regard. The airports got this top ranking because of the outstanding performance of all employees and thus it ensures that passengers have a very pleasant experience.”
He also said, “We are proud of our airport and our staff who work so hard to earn and maintain our airport’s excellent reputation around the world.”
