To cut down on queuing misery, a DUTCH airport has introduced Disneyland-inspired time slots for passengers going through security checks. So that passengers never their flight again.

Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport has implemented the new time-allocated security lane to reduce peak travel chaos.

Schiphol Airport battles with personnel shortages and overcrowding. It leads to huge queues at key travel times. This is the 3rd busiest airport in Europe after London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

Passengers can reserve a spot at a certain time on the website or through a special app by using the new system. It means they can pass quickly through security if they turn on up time.

Currently, it is operated in a trial period. But, this is only open for those passengers who are traveling within the “Schengen area”

The airport will dedicate one security checkpoint exclusively for those taking part in the pilot project.

  • In just 15 minutes, 30 passengers are expected to pass through the checkpoint.
  • This service is completely free of charge during the trial period.
  • This service will help the passengers to make their arrival time better so that they never miss their flight again.

They plan to implement the time slots permanently on a wider scale in the near future according to a statement from the airport.

Daan van Vroonhoven, Manager of security policy remarks that “In every 15 minutes, 30 passengers can get through the checkpoint. It is very normal to reserve a time slot for a ride or exhibition At Disneyland.”
